Margazhi in San Francisco
About Margazhi in San Francisco
Margazhi in San Francisco is a humble effort curated by Swathi Lakshmanan Founder and Chair National Ethnic Arts, Inc, to open a virtual and in-person platform for All artists around the world. The Margazhi in San Francisco was curated in the year 2020 amidst the pandemic and we have been truly blessed to be bringing this consecutively for the 3 years virtually and in-person.
Margazhi (Mar-gha-ri) is the ninth month in the Hindu lunar calendar and it symbolizes a period of spiritual and cultural pursuits seeped in Bhakti (devotion) usually observed in the southern part of India. It falls during the peak winter season from mid-December to mid-January every year.
The Margazhi in San Francisco Music and Dance Festival (MISF) is curated to recreate the essence of the Chennai Margazhi season in the United States of America.
Thank you
Swathi Lakshmanan.
